April Fool!

No, I haven't been recovering from a glut of reminiscence. I can't use that as an excuse for not blogging. Actually, the end of March 80's fest fell through. It seems that Scooter is all important now with his work and experience in Hep C prevention in Australia, so much so that he was asked to stay and do a presentation and some collaborative work after his conference in Memphis. He flew into Cowtown today and the kids and I took him up to Lost In Middle America to spend time with his mom and sibs. He took us to lunch (only because he worked his wiles on the server so she gave him the check.) I will be soooo sending $$ to your mom, dude. You lucked out because I was worrying about the kids making a mess at your mom's house, and I forgot to give it to her then.

But what did I do this weekend, you query? How dare I lead you down the primrose path and ignore my blog? Well, it wasn't ALL sitting eating bon-bons and watching soaps, people. The 'Savant's sister and BIL came down to visit and have him do his computer voodoo on a web page they were setting up to sell the BIL's artwork. It's still in development, else I would link it. And MamaDee still came down for the supposed R&R she gets here, even in the absence of the Scooter of Oz. She stayed with us, the SIL & BIL stayed in a hotel, giving the excuse that they wanted a hot tub. Likely story. I'm sure that they wanted some time away from the urchins, and also wanted to stay in someplace cleaner than here.

But they did spend most of Saturday and Sunday here, so I was cooking and entertaining, doing my hostess with the mostest schtick, which included making a pineapple upside down cake (for the first time ever!) for the BIL's birthday. (you're gonna love this; the 'Savant was talking with the BIL Thurs. PM to confirm plans and when the BIL's birthday came up, the 'Savant asked what kind of cake he wanted, then said... "Sure, we'll make you a pineapple upside down cake." He did get the Glare of Death and a Smack On The Head, but the damage was already done. Luckily, I have the world's best dessert cookbook, a legacy from my cookbook collecting mama. It's so good that it has my grandma's recipe for divinity, which nobody else in the family can make.

But I digress. Let's see, what else did we do? Well, I luckily read my email Saturday about an hour before Earth Hour, which I had never heard of before getting the email from one of the homeschool moms. And we get all kinds of stuff from the WWF---don't know how we missed it before. But we did this one up right and proper, got the candles out and played board games with the kids.

I have to go wash some cloth up for the 'Girl's next sewing class tomorrow, as well as washing some more to make Merovingian capes for history class on Friday. (I made the wigs on Sunday and they were quite the piece of work.)

Off I go to the washer... Barf!

update!

I actually put the picture in with only one hint from the 'savant!

why, oh why

were you awake and posting at 3:22 in the morning? Was there a birth or are you just trying to get some quiet time to get things done?

The costumes sound cool.

busted

It wasn't 3; it was more like 1:30, but I changed the time stamp to reflect when I started the post. (I was doing laundry during the composition of the post.)
