I am still here...

but have been spending the slim moments of free-time sewing monk outfits for this week's history class---a day spent in a medieval monastery...copying and illuminating 'books', eating lentil soup and bread, and taking a vow of silence. (Yes, I am looking forward to that.) It will be interesting to see how the boys take it; last year, the girls, who were, and still are, much chattier, liked the 15 minute vow so much that they asked for it to be extended. Can't imagine that the boy, who still processes much of his intellectual activity in a stream of patter, will be too pleased to be quiet while his friends are in the room.

However, there's a crampy mama who called this afternoon to put me on yellow alert, so there may not BE a class tomorrow. (It's a midwife's Murphy's law: whenever the midwife has plans, a mom has a baby.) Ah ca, (oh how I long for a cedille...and all the rest of the French accents. Oh 'savant dear...) if we must skip a week, it'll be okay. Except that one of the other moms has already left the lovely homemade lentil soup in my fridge...guess I'd have to freeze it.

However, one never knows about these babies; this one might decide to wait another day...or week. Nonetheless, I'm going to bed (before midnight even) just in case.
