this is why I don't have time to blog

Hi all,

As you all probably know, the boys' medieval history class is staging a battle between the many but undisciplined Celts v. the few but organized Romans on Friday. The boys (with a little help from (friend of girl) as Boudicca) are supposed to be the Celts. We will be making armbands and battle axes from cardboard and aluminium foil, painting faces with blue patterns to be fierce, standing their hair up in spikes with the help of hair gel (as opposed to lime) and making dragon brooches to pin on our war cloaks. I think we have enough costume capes to use for war cloaks, but if you have any, and are willing to get them dirty, please send them just in case. Also, I am canvassing for Romans to take on these feisty Celts, or even a few more Celts. I made a plea for the girls' class to act as the Romans, and (the girl) and (her friend) seemed to be interested, esp. since the Romans 'win', but we could probably use a few more people...on either side, so little sibs are welcome, if you think they could stand the melee.

I am thinking that the battle will take place around 1PM. Afterwards, I want to slip away to make oatcakes for snack and the kids can just have some free play time. If those interested (who don't already come to the medieval class) can RSVP, so I can gauge the amount of oatcake to make and blue face paint to get, as well as estimate how wild this battle will be, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

I may have a couple of Romans for you. Maybe even three. We are off school that day. We have a bday party in the a.m. but could come over a little before 1 p.m. FUN!

Blogs: Well, I sorta moved on and now have Xanga for life, so I don't want Pat to go to any trouble. I hope he is feeling better!

So, why is it we speak like Pauly Shore in Encino Man? Oh well, come on over; it's going to be quite the battle. If you happen to have some cardboard gift wrap tubes to make some swords, cause the kids in the class will have made theirs already. If not, the Celts fought without them, so can the kids. (It'll probably be better since one of the class rules is "weapons only touch weapons" a la SYC.)
