I did not sign up for this!

Seek is once more on the loose. Although the girl spent part of yesterday making a stele of rules for her room (a la Hammurabi) which included keeping her door closed, she left it open this afternoon. So, one of the cats knocked the cage down again. I got clued in when I noticed Marty intently watching the closet door in the basement. Gi found Lulu upstairs right away. Can't figure how Seek gets away so fast. He must have been inspired by the movie the kids rented---"Escape From NIMH 2".

The savant is, of course, not here to deal with the hamster drama as he is doing the Stew Perry radio contest at his friend Jim's (the guy with the big antennas) in Delaware and won't be back until the wee sma's. He did get a blistering call full of profanity, though, while I was trying to put the @#$% cage back together. I may be able to see the humor in this by tomorrow, esp. if the dratted rodent turns up alive---am having visions of a commando hamster children's book.

Pat got Seek out of the basement closet...alive! I had Gianna leave a piece of hamster food outside the closet door before she went to bed last night. Then, while I was doing some laundry, I noticed that it had gone. I opened the closet door to find it just inside, with a corner nibbled off. Since the closet is where we keep the screens (and a broken pane), I decided to have Pat deal with it in the AM (only fair, I think.) This AM, the hamster biscuit was gone, so my suspicions were confirmed and Pat wisely made no protest when I told him.

Poor Seek---to have to leave the paradise of the closet, which, goes all the way under the stairs, even with the bend. There was also an old comforter in there which probably made a quite comfortable hamster bed. Now its back to the teeny cage with the roommate.:( I'm telling you, there's a children's book in this somewhere. I'll have to mull on it for awhile.

needs one of them there newfangled hamster balls.

Is it "Seek" or "Sikh"? I keep seeing a hamster in a turban.

Sorry, that was wrong. But I saw Matisyahu (Hasidic Jewish Reggae Rapper) on VH1's "So Jewtastic" last night, and now my brain is putting all sorts of seemingly incompatible things together.

Too bad I didn't have that image when I was so pissed off.  The rodent is named "Seek" as in hide and... since Gi noticed how curious she is.  And we do have a hamster ball.  It was temporarily lost under Gi's bed and since has been resurrected to give the hamsters exercise (and me a heart attack, or at least a twisted ankle) in the kitchen seemingly whenever I'm cooking/cleaning there.
